Roman Catholic Church Of Saint Peter - Founded 1848 The Church of Saint Peter The Mother Church Of Rockland County
According to the Constitution on the Liturgy, the church earnestly desires that all the faithful be led to that full, conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations called for by the very nature of the liturgy. In St. Peter's Parish, individual members are invited to participate in the liturgy by undertaking specific roles:

Lectors
The main part of the Liturgy of the Word is made up of the readings from Sacred Scripture. For in the readings, God speaks to his people, opening up to them the mystery of redemption and salvation and offering them spiritual nourishment; and Christ himself is present in the midst of the faithful through his word.

In the readings, the table of God's word is prepared for the faithful, and the riches of the Bible are opened to them. The readings are proclaimed by a lector.
Eucharistic Ministers
Also called Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, these are formally instituted acolytes or even some of the faithful who have been commissioned according to the prescribed rite to distribute Holy Communion in both forms to the congregation. Extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion should receive sufficient spiritual, theological, and practical preparation to fulfill their role with knowledge and reverence.
Altar Servers
Every fall, students in fifth through eighth grade, who attend St. Peter's School or St. Peter's Religious Education Program, are invited to become altar servers. Instruction and training take place in the Church on Saturday mornings. After a special blessing at a Sunday Mass, the new servers are paired with experienced altar servers and assigned to the weekend Masses. Altar Servers also serve at the special yearly celebrations, such as Christmas, the Easter Triduum, First Communions and Confirmation.

Students in high school are invited to serve the 5pm Sunday Mass. These boys and girls are usually part of God's TYM, the youth program for those in high school.
Ushers
At every Mass on Sunday ushers perform a valuable service in seating people. They take up the collection and assist with the distribution of materials during Mass as may be needed. After Mass they hand out any notices there may be.
St. Peter
O God, who hast given unto Thy blessed Apostle Peter the keys to the kingdom of heaven, and the power to bind and loose: grant that we may be delivered, through the help of this intercession, from the slavery of all our sins: Who livest and reignest world without end.
Amen.
